The spirit of
faroe island

The label’s red, white, and blue are the exact colours of Faroe Island’s Merkið (flag). The white background is to symbolise the islands’ clear skies and the foam of the waves breaking on its shore.

The embossing on the label is a Faroe Islands heritage knitting pattern. The Faroe Islands has a rich and longstanding knitting tradition—knitting was once one of its largest export industries. Knitters across the globe highly covet Faroes’ sheep wool.

For centuries, rams and sheep have provided the Faroes people with meat for sustenance and wool for warmth. Like the Faroes people, these animals are rugged and determined, which are critical traits to thrive and survive on the islands.

Our brand name communicates the islands’ line of longitude. Its “knotted” look pays homage to its peoples’ seafaring heritage.

The Faroes flag is called Merkið, which means “the banner” or “the mark.” the first time Merkið was raised in the Faroe Islands was on June 19, 1919, at a wedding held in Fámjin on the island of Suðuroy.
