I was born and raised in the small town of Sandur, on the island of Sandoy in the Faroe Islands, and I lived there until I moved to Denmark to study at university. What I thought would be a short stay turned into 25 years. I loved my time in Denmark, but like many Faroese, I always felt a strong pull to return home – to raise my family surrounded by the nature, language, traditions, and culture that mean so much to me.
My husband and I spent many years living abroad, but over time, the longing for our family, our culture, and the sense of adventure and freedom the Islands offer became impossible to ignore. I am who I am today because of my upbringing in Sandur, and I wanted my children to have the same opportunities and experiences I had growing up. So, we came home.
62Nordic Organic Vodka was born from that same love for this place. I know that most people in the world will never have the chance to visit the Faroe Islands and see its striking, untamed beauty for themselves.
